The Dog Mamaa
Dog Training Toronto | Calm, Confident Dogs Start Here

Terms & Policies
Thank you for your interest in training with The Dog Mamaa. We are confident in our positive reinforcement approach to deliver customized training tailored to the needs of both you and your dog.
Training sessions are ideally held once a week and last one hour per session. Between sessions, we are here to guide you, answer questions, and check in on your progress. Each session includes a custom training plan, exercises to practice, and a summary with helpful tips.
Consistency is Key to Results
To maximize your training results, consistency on your end is essential. We provide you with the training toolkit, but it’s your responsibility to apply the tools daily. We typically recommend 10-15 minutes per day in short bursts for the best success (unless advised otherwise). Don’t hesitate to reach out for support if you have questions or challenges — we’re here to help you and your dog thrive!
To get the best results for you and your dog, I recommend completing your package within 6-8 weeks. Packages must be completed within 3 months of your first booking, after which any unused sessions will expire.
This timeline ensures your training stays consistent and your dog is actually progressing, not stalling out between long gaps.
Service Area
In-person sessions are available only within Downtown Toronto - within 30 minute radius of our location. Service areas are subject to change as the business evolves. Clients outside this area may be offered virtual training sessions.
Cancellations & Rescheduling
All cancellations or reschedules require a minimum of 24 hours notice. Late cancellations result in a $50, and no-shows (we show up, you're not present - result in being charged for full session.) This policy respects our time and ensures availability for other clients. The fee must be paid before remaining sessions can continue.
Payment & Refund Policy
Payments for training packages are required within 24 hours of booking your first session to secure your appointment. Interac E-Transfers can be sent to thedogmamaa@gmail.com.
All payments are final and non-refundable due to the time and effort required to create customized training plans. Sessions may not be transferred, resold, or credited to others.
Training Methods
As a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, The Dog Mamaa strictly uses positive reinforcement techniques. We ask that no aversive tools (leash corrections, prong collars, e-collars, martingales, etc.) be used. We reserve the right to end sessions if these tools are observed. If you currently use them, we can help you transition to positive methods.
Session Requirements
For sessions, please bring:
-
A clicker (provided by The Dog Mamaa)
-
Pea-sized, irresistible treats
-
A treat pouch
Sessions will begin outdoors to make it less stressful for your dog and then transition indoors to teach exercises in a low-distraction environment for optimal learning.
About Rewards & Training
Positive reinforcement rewards the behaviors we want to see more of. Food is the most effective reward because it can be delivered quickly, creates strong associations, and keeps learning fun. Rewards are frequent in the early stages and gradually phased out as behaviors become reliable. Petting and praise are also helpful, but most dogs respond best to food — imagine being paid in high-fives instead of money!
Photos & Social Media
We love celebrating our clients’ progress! Photos or videos may be taken during sessions for educational or promotional purposes (social media, website, etc.). If you prefer not to have your dog featured, please let us know in writing before your first session.
